They say 'every picture tells a story' and just looking at this picture of Tom says it all for me. Those rave ups at the K of C or one of those fab clubs out in Flatbush. When I saw Tommy doing this, I just knew there had to be another side to this life.

Love you Tom!

How right he looks!! There were a few times that The Intruders rehearsed in our house on 6th St. right directly across from the St. Saviour's nuns convent.
My brother and I shared the largest bedroom, and that's where they set up.
My Dad freaked when he first ever saw Ritchie, because he had "long hair"!! It really wasn't very long at all.
I was into folk music at that stage of the game.
Tom introduced me to Dave, and we became a kind of folk-rock sorta duo.
Look at his hand position and how "present" he looks head up right THERE!! I love you, Thomas.

He was just seventeen, Yeah, you know what I mean. We were all seventeen. We were dreamers. We wewre black and white, but Oh how grey. we were proud, tall and had the short intense sight of youth. We were flying open. Tom controlled the thump, and gave oit out to us to syncronize that day this day.

Thanks Tom.

Ok, so I totally remember the rehearsals in the big bedroom and how Ritchie (Weezuzak - you know who I mean) played "Tobacco Road" and would lean over the toms one at a time sort of circling them while the singer which I think was Billy Sheehan sang, "Tobacco Ro-o-o-od." Man we would laugh later when I imitated that! Of course I was only 6 at the time. But I could make you all laugh with that. Or maybe you were being nice to a little kid. Who knows? I just thought it was hysterical!

yeah, Anita--he would put the tips of his stix on the drums and sort of twist around and around slowly as--it was Billy Sheehan, who--if you look at him--has many of the same features that Dad had--and he wasn't really a relative---but certainly his father and bloodline back had to be the same Clan--just as you and all of us writing and reading here are part of the Tribe. To me Ritchie was the first "real" rocker I ever knew and that Tobacco Road thang was something very cool that I had never seen until Tom had them rehearse a few times up in that big room.
Paulie Nasser lived right next door--Kevin knows and heard him sing with Larry The Bop down in the 9th & 7th--sometimes 8th subway station--great reverb down there. Paulie was the bass, skinny Syrian with a big Adam's Apple. Tom was there sometimes with his guitar and giving the singers their starting notes, then strumming chord accompaniments for them--very few a capella subway groups had a guitar player. Tom had a black, Kay nylon string. It had been Matt Cleary's who was a lefty--I tried to teach Matt--he didn't dig it, so either my Dad or Tom bought it off him.
That was the guitar he had when he learned the bass notes for "No Particular Place To Go".

He was incredibly good at figuring out the more complicated chord changes--"Homeward Bound", Simon & Garfunkle, "Ballad of a Thin Man", Bob Dylan--to name just a couple. Tom had such a good ear, and a Heart to go with it.
Seeding the field of Sweet Crops
we're all growing and adding to the body of lore of The Tribe of Sweet Crops--so many inter-related dynamics and interpersonal relationships and sequences of events--to say nothing of many INCREDIBLE "THINGS" that happened--"THINGS" that were done.

Valentine's Day approaches--the time of sending messages--of love and caring--and Carol meant to say "His Brown-Eyed Girl"--but--we all knew that!!

I send my love thoughts out to all friends and visitors to this "Place" because that's what this is about.

yeah, it's been awhile and I was telling kevin that I had dumped so much over the waves to Greg and friends that there wasn't much left. Well, the fact of it is there is sooooooooo much left that it's overwhelming for me.
Hardly a day goes by when I'm not in the presence of Tom. It could be as simple as a bass line, a comment, a chord changs, the Japan bullit train, his beautiful empathy, that unique gift to REALLY listen (can u dig it)?,those big baby blues, the way he could remember Paulie Naser and recreate the moment ( you too Kev) coming to see me in Westport, Playing with me Billy, John, Kevin, Larry, Tom, in CT 1979, yelling the chords out, meeting people who remember YOU without prompting from Wutrsboro Hills (you would have dug that)
The impact you left still hits the shores and I miss you like crazy.
every phone call every cab call, Carole, what a beauty you nut, every "I love you " that we said, how cool was that huh! that we could reconnect after all that time between, and everyone here at this site was on his lips and we speak of love and some regrets and some misdirection and most of all we spoke of everyone here and then some and in a good way and in a loving way, and man, I got some stories, you would love but most of all you all were loved, and that's enough for now and probably a long time to come.

so I'm thinking how long its been since I wrote and realize it's only been 2 months. That's about the time that would pass between our meetings, phone calls etc. Always seemed like no time at all and still does today, 'cept we're talking on different lines. And the reception was, and is, always warm, good and true, and always right in the pocket.
So if anyone can help me get some vinyl and cassette recordings of Tom along with some slide photos over and on Tom's Place please let me know. I;m sure everyone would enjoy hearing and seeing some very special moments.
Thanks
Dino
